Recently, OpenAI has introduced “SearchGPT,” a prototype that enhances the search experience by integrating the capabilities of ChatGPT with real-time web data. This allows users to ask questions in a conversational manner and receive answers with clear citations from credible sources. When using SearchGPT, users can ask follow-up questions, and the context from previous queries is maintained to improve the relevance of subsequent responses​.

Now, the waiting is over! Here are the steps to try it out by yourself:

  1. Open “Google Chrome”
  2. Go to “Settings”, then selete “Search Engine” on the left navigation panel gptsearch-01

  3. Expand the main panel and find “Site Search” gptsearch-02

  4. Add a new site search with
    Name "GPT Search", 
    Shortcut: @gpt, 
    URL: https://www.chatgpt.com/?hints=search&q=%s

5. You can set the “GPT Search” as the default search engine for the Chrome browser. Or, you can first type @gpt (or gpt) followed by a space, then type your search query to try it out. gptsearch-03
